NASA Chief Says Newly Released UFO Files Reveal Unexplained Encounters, Not Alien Bodies

Date:

Freshly declassified government records are shedding new light on decades of unexplained aerial sightings, according to NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. While the files contain unusual incidents documented by military personnel, astronauts and intelligence officials, Isaacman says they do not provide evidence of recovered alien spacecraft or extraterrestrial remains.

The latest disclosures are part of an ongoing effort by the Trump administration to release long-classified records related to unidentified anomalous phenomena, commonly known as UAPs. Officials say more documents from federal agencies could be released in the coming months.

Declassified Records Bring Hidden Cases Into Public View

According to Isaacman, the newly released material is significant not because it proves extraterrestrial life, but because it exposes incidents that were never fully investigated or publicly examined.

“What’s being surfaced isn’t crashed ships or alien bodies, but real unexplained phenomena,” Isaacman said.

The files were released through the administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters, known as PURSUE. The program directs federal agencies to search internal databases and disclose historical reports involving unexplained aerial activity.

Officials say the effort follows years of public skepticism regarding government secrecy surrounding UFO investigations.

Technology Is Capturing More Unusual Sightings

Isaacman argued that modern technology has dramatically increased the amount of data available for review. From smartphones and doorbell cameras to sophisticated military sensors, more devices than ever are recording unusual events.

“Everybody’s got a camera phone, a doorbell camera. Every military aircraft flying has a million sensors,” Isaacman said.

“You’re gonna pick up things. Pick up things that flew at a different angle, you know, across the lens that maybe if you had a better angle on, you’d be like, oh, that’s a balloon, or that might be a missile in a combat region. But because we caught it at an angle, it’s an unexplained phenomenon.”

Rather than pointing to extraterrestrial visitors, Isaacman suggested many incidents remain unresolved simply because the available data is incomplete.

A Push To Revisit Long-Ignored Reports

One of the biggest revelations, Isaacman said, was discovering how little attention many government agencies historically paid to unexplained aerial encounters.

He described the current review effort as a form of public participation in scientific analysis.

“Government agencies really didn’t take this quite as seriously in the past until President Trump put out the tweet, basically giving an order to government agencies and going out and saying, look, this time you better go through the files, you better start searching your databases and bring things up,” said Isaacman.

He added, “I think the president has really got government agencies now taking this seriously, to go look at the files and bring the data to light, and he’s putting it all out for everyone to analyze. This is citizen science right now. Take a look at our files, tell us what you think.”

Among the newly disclosed records is infrared footage from 2023 that reportedly shows a U.S. F-16 intercepting and shooting down a diamond-shaped object over Lake Huron.

The files also include reports of unexplained aerial objects observed near military operations in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Greece and other regions of the Middle East.

In addition, historical records from the Apollo and Gemini eras document astronauts reporting unusual lights and unidentified objects while operating in space.

The collection also features testimony from intelligence officers and military pilots who said they encountered objects they could not explain during training exercises and operational missions.

No Evidence Of Alien Craft, Says NASA Administrator

Despite the unusual nature of many reports, Isaacman said nothing he has reviewed suggests the government possesses alien spacecraft or extraterrestrial remains.

“There’s nothing I’m aware of in terms of alien bodies or spaceships,” Isaacman said. “But observations from decades past from some of our adversaries and potentially some of our allies essentially saying, ‘We saw something, we documented it, and we kept it buried in a file somewhere,’ are now being made public.”

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has reportedly encouraged agencies to revisit long-buried UAP records as part of a broader transparency initiative.

Isaacman also indicated that additional “big file tranches” from intelligence agencies may be released in future rounds.

Search For Life Beyond Earth Continues

While dismissing claims of recovered alien vehicles, Isaacman expressed confidence that some form of life likely exists elsewhere in the universe.

He pointed to ongoing scientific interest in Mars, Saturn’s moon Titan and Jupiter’s moon Europa as locations that may contain evidence of past or present microbial life.

“I think if we go and bring samples back from Mars, you’ve got better than a 90% chance of former microbial life,” he said.

Isaacman also highlighted the potential significance of biosignatures, chemical indicators that may suggest biological activity.

“Things that could indicate perhaps that there was microbial life there or some other form there of which it changes the whole equation from surely there is life out there somewhere to what if it’s everywhere,” said Isaacman.

Apollo Mission Data Still Sparks Interest

The NASA administrator also pointed to photographs and data collected during the Apollo missions as some of the most intriguing information included in the disclosure effort.

“I would say that some of the most interesting data that NASA has provided as part of the UAP disclosure was taken on the surface of the moon from Apollo 12 and 17,” he said. “You can’t be a moon landing denier and also believe that those photos captured unexplained phenomenon.”

As additional records continue to emerge, officials say future releases will provide the public with even more historical UAP reports to examine and debate.
