Demi Moore, ex-wife of Bruce Willis, shared a touching update on the “Die Hard” actor’s health as he continues to battle frontotemporal dementia. The 61-year-old actress opened up during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday, reflecting on her long-standing connection with Willis and how their family is coping with his condition.
Reminiscing About the Past
On the show, Drew Barrymore, 49, recalled the special moment when Willis made a cameo in the 2003 film Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, in which Moore played a key role. Barrymore fondly shared her memories of working with the actor.
“When we did Charlie’s Angels, Bruce came and played on it, and he opens up the film. And we got to work with him,” Barrymore said.
Adding a personal touch, she reminisced, “I mean, I used to know him when he was a bartender at Cafe Central! I’ve known him my whole life, too. How is he right now?”
Moore’s response was both thoughtful and honest. “Given the givens, he’s in a stable place,” she said, offering comfort to the audience concerned about Willis’ health.
A Strong Family Bond
Willis, 69, and Moore were married from 1987 to 2000 and share three daughters—Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30. Despite their divorce, the former couple has maintained a close relationship over the years, co-parenting their daughters with respect and love.
Moore even attended Willis’ 2009 wedding to his second wife, Emma Heming Willis. The blended family, which now includes daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, often gathers for holidays and family milestones, showcasing their enduring bond.
In 2019, Moore was present when Willis and Emma renewed their vows on their 10th wedding anniversary, underscoring the closeness they’ve sustained as a family.
Prioritizing Time Together
Speaking with Barrymore, Moore emphasized how she treasures the moments she shares with Willis and their family.
“When I’m in LA, I go over every week, and I really treasure the time that we all share,” she said, highlighting her deep commitment to spending time with him amid his health challenges.
Navigating the Journey with Love and Compassion
Moore also shared the guidance she offers her daughters as they cope with their father’s illness. She explained how embracing the present is essential rather than dwelling on the past or future.
“What I say to my kids is you meet them where they’re at. You don’t hold on to who they were or what you want them to be, but who they are in this moment,” she explained. “And from that, there is such beauty and joy and loving and sweetness.”
This compassionate approach has helped the family stay strong and supportive as they face Willis’ evolving condition.
A Community of Support
Bruce Willis first stepped away from acting in March 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia. By February 2023, his family revealed that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia, a diagnosis that shook his fans and loved ones alike.
Rumer Willis, his eldest daughter, gave a hopeful update in May during an interview with Fox News Digital.
“He’s great. Yeah, yeah, doing OK. Thank you so much for asking,” she said, adding that the outpouring of love and support from fans has been incredibly moving.
“I think, for me, through this experience, what’s been so incredible is my dad is so beloved, and that’s been so evident in the transparency with which we’ve been sharing,” Rumer continued. “And I think if there’s any way sharing our experience brings hope — whatever comes forward as a family — that can have an effect and bring any sort of hope, comfort to someone else experiencing that, then to me, that’s … everything.”
A Legacy of Love
As Bruce Willis continues to battle dementia, his family remains a pillar of strength, navigating this journey with grace, compassion, and unwavering love. Through their candid transparency, they are helping others who may be facing similar struggles, proving that even in the hardest of times, there is hope, unity, and a legacy of enduring family bonds.
