The U.S. Border Patrol’s official union delivered a unanimous endorsement of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Prescott Valley, Arizona, on Sunday, marking a significant show of support for his 2024 campaign.
During the rally, Trump expressed his gratitude, telling supporters that he was “honored to receive… the endorsement” of the National Border Patrol Council, which represents border patrol agents nationwide. “It’s a great honor,” Trump said. “They said it was unanimous. Thousands of people.” He later welcomed Paul Perez, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, to join him on stage.
A Dire Warning and a Rallying Cry
National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez took the stage with a strong message for the gathered crowd. He did not mince words when it came to the stakes of the upcoming election.
“If we allow border czar Harris to win this election, every city, every community in this great country is going to go to hell,” Perez declared. “The untold millions of people unvetted, who she has allowed into this country that are committing murders, rapes, robberies, burglaries and every other crime will continue to put our country in peril.” His words struck a chord with the audience, many of whom have voiced concerns over border security.
Perez continued by emphasizing the role he believes Trump can play in restoring order.
“Only one man can fix that. That is Donald J. Trump,” Perez stated firmly.
“He has always stood with the men and women who protect this border, who put their lives on the line for the country.”
Endorsement Backed by Thousands
Perez then delivered the formal endorsement on behalf of the entire union, reinforcing their commitment to Trump’s return to the presidency. “On behalf of the 16,000 men and women represented by the National Border Patrol Council, we strongly support and endorse Donald J. Trump for President of the United States,” Perez affirmed.
He described the critical choice facing voters in November—one that could either perpetuate the current chaos or put an end to it. He warned that the continuation of Vice President Kamala Harris’s policies would allow criminal cartels to control the border and facilitate the influx of drugs, including fentanyl, into the United States. The message was clear: action was necessary to safeguard the future of American communities.
Trump Takes Aim at His Opponent
Trump, visibly pleased with the union’s support, praised the “incredible group of people” who protect the nation’s borders and vowed to always stand by them. With Arizona, a key swing state, as the backdrop, he used the moment to energize the crowd and highlight the differences between himself and his opponent, Vice President Harris. He promised that under his leadership, the U.S. military would never succumb to the “woke” culture, taking direct aim at policies that have been implemented under the current administration.
Trump then urged the audience to watch a video displayed on the screen behind him. The clip began with scenes from Stanley Kubrick’s iconic movie “Full Metal Jacket,” showing the famously brash drill sergeant portrayed by the late R. Lee Ermey, before transitioning to a scene filled with irony. “Happy pride. Happy pride month, and actually, let’s declare it a sunny day,” the video showed, adding a sarcastic twist to Trump’s critique of current military culture.
The Road to November
After discussing his vision for securing the border, Trump reiterated his commitment to fighting violent crime and supporting law enforcement nationwide. He emphasized that he would continue campaigning hard in Arizona and other battleground states leading up to Election Day on Nov. 5.
A recent Wall Street Journal poll has shown that the race between Trump and Harris remains incredibly tight across several key battleground states. According to the poll, conducted between September 28 and October 8, Trump and Harris are neck-and-neck in North Carolina and Wisconsin, with Harris leading by slim margins in Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan. In Pennsylvania and Nevada, Trump leads, with Nevada being his largest margin at 49%-43%.
The poll’s findings underscored the importance of border security, inflation, and the economy to voters, areas where Trump holds an advantage. Conversely, Harris was preferred on issues like health care, housing affordability, and abortion.
Trump concluded the rally by renewing his pledge to fight for American values and to restore security and prosperity for all.
