House Lawmakers Unanimously Approve Measure to Declassify Information on COVID-19 Origins and Chinese Lab Connection

In a rare demonstration of bipartisanship, House lawmakers voted 419-0 in favor of a measure that aims to declassify information related to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. This decisive vote sends the bill to the desk of President Joe Biden, who will now have the opportunity to sign it into law.

House lawmakers voted 419-0 in favor of a measure that aims to declassify information related to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the overwhelming support in the House, the White House has yet to confirm whether President Biden will sign the bill. When asked about the matter, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded that the administration is currently reviewing the bill before making a final decision. She stated, “we’re taking a look at the bill.”

The significance of this measure lies in the possibility of uncovering the truth about the origins of the pandemic, including the potential connection between the virus and a Chinese laboratory. The bipartisan vote in the House underscores the importance of transparency and accountability, especially during a global health crisis. The decision now rests with President Biden to determine whether to sign the bill into law.

Legislation Demands Declassification of Information on Wuhan Institute of Virology and COVID-19 Origins

The recently approved House measure calls for the Director of National Intelligence to declassify any and all information pertaining to possible connections between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of COVID-19. This includes information on the “activities performed by the Wuhan Institute of Virology with or on behalf of the People’s Liberation Army,” as well as details on “coronavirus research or other related activities performed at the Wuhan Institute of Virology prior to the outbreak of COVID-19,” and information related to “researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who fell ill in autumn 2019.”

The significance of this legislation is clear in that it aims to uncover the truth about the origins of the pandemic, potentially linking it to a Chinese laboratory. The declassification of this information will bring greater transparency and accountability to the investigation and provide valuable insight into the events leading up to the outbreak of the virus.

With the unanimous vote in the House, the bill now awaits President Biden’s approval to become law. Once signed, it will be up to the Director of National Intelligence to ensure the declassification of the specified information.

DNI to Provide Unclassified Report on COVID-19 Origins if Bill is Signed into Law

If the House bill is signed into law, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) would be required to provide Congress with an unclassified report containing the declassified information related to the potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of COVID-19. The DNI would be permitted to make reductions to the report if deemed necessary to protect sources and methods.

The House’s unanimous vote on this bill comes three years after the outbreak of COVID-19, which led to widespread lockdowns, mask mandates, and eventually, vaccine mandates. Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri expressed his support for the bill in a tweet, stating, “Next stop for my COVID origins bill, Joe Biden’s desk. Sign it. Now the American people will be able to see what their government knows about COVID origins – and those who lied about it can be held accountable.”

“Now the American people will be able to see what their government knows about COVID origins – and those who lied about it can be held accountable.”

The bill’s potential passage into law would be a significant step towards uncovering the truth about the origins of the pandemic, including the possibility of a connection to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. It would also provide an opportunity for greater transparency and accountability in the ongoing investigation of COVID-19’s origins.
