A 26-year-old woman was arrested in Florida after allegedly pulling out a handgun and threatening two McDonald’s employees at a drive-thru.
The incident took place in Cocoa, Florida when Quavi Young went through the drive-thru a second time to ask for an item that wasn’t on the menu. When the employee asked why she was mad, Young brandished her gun and threatened her. According to the arrest affidavit, Young “requested a meal which was not on the menu” and eventually brandished a handgun while threatening the employee by saying she would “push her ‘s— back.” After arguing with the employee, Young reportedly grabbed her gun and placed it on her lap before picking it up. Police were called and arrested Young on the scene.
The gun, an M&P Shield handgun with a drum-style magazine, was found on the woman’s passenger seat.
Following the recent incident in which a woman in Florida was arrested for brandishing a gun at McDonald’s employees, other reports have emerged of violence towards fast food workers. In February 2023, an Altamonte Springs, Florida, woman waved a loaded handgun at McDonald’s drive-thru employees after being upset that she wasn’t offered a free cookie through the restaurant’s rewards program.
She was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, improper exhibit of a firearm, battery causing bodily harm, and resisting an officer. Earlier that same month, a 16-year-old employee at a Wendy’s in Lynn, Massachusetts was shot while working the drive-thru. The drive-thru window was pictured with multiple bullet holes. These incidents highlight the risks that fast food workers face on the job.
