Priorities Questioned Amid Escalating Migrant Challenge
Border Patrol insiders are taking the Biden administration to task. Their concern? The seeming prioritization of “Chestfeeding Awareness Month” amidst a deepening migrant crisis, as revealed by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reportedly circulated an agency-wide memo this Tuesday. It highlighted “National Breast/Chestfeeding Awareness Month.” The CBP stressed its commitment to supporting all personnel “who breast/chestfeed” by offering “lactation support.”
“Transgender and nonbinary-gendered individuals may give birth and breastfeed or feed at the chest (chestfeed).” States the CDC website.
CDC’s Stance on Chestfeeding
The CDC’s website outlines “health equity considerations” around transgender individuals engaging in “chestfeeding.” As the CDC highlights, “Transgender and nonbinary-gendered individuals may give birth and breastfeed or feed at the chest (chestfeed).” It further clarifies, “An individual does not need to have given birth to breastfeed or chestfeed.” This section also touches on diverse family preferences for terms like nursing, chestfeeding, or bodyfeeding.
However, some medical experts have voiced concerns over potential risks linked with chestfeeding.
Border Patrol’s Reaction to the Email
The recent CBP communication has stirred a pot of emotions. Several Border Patrol agents, both current and past, shared their dismay, indicating a possible misalignment of priorities by the Biden administration.
Gil Maza, a seasoned CBP agent with 27 years under his belt, didn’t mince words. “Instead of focusing on what really matters, you have literally an all-time record for illegal immigration, you have all-time record releases, you have an all-time record for gotaways, you got all-time record rescues and all-time record deaths, and their biggest concern is this,” Maza said.
Another active CBP official, preferring anonymity, voiced concern over the message such communications send, especially to working mothers. They said, “I find it disgusting and disrespectful to our women in the workforce that they would post something like that. Especially mothers that somehow find the time to nurse and raise their children while protecting our country.”
The sentiment concluded with a hard stance on the current leadership: “Biden is by far the worst president we’ve had in recent history; he’s purposefully destroying the country because he’s beholden to foreign powers and not the American people.”
Soaring Migrant Encounters
Records indicate a surge in migrant encounters. CBP has reported encounters exceeding 1.9 million at the southern frontier since October. This year’s figures are gearing up to surpass last year’s staggering 2.3 million.
The CBP hasn’t yet responded to the DCNF’s request for a comment.
