Kyle Richards’ Daughter Suffers Hair Loss After Using Mounjaro Weight-Loss Drug

Date:

Sophia Umansky didn’t expect that shedding pounds might also mean shedding her hair.
The 25-year-old daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards took to TikTok with a startling admission: she’s been battling what she calls a “dramatic hair loss situation” after four months on Mounjaro, the trending weight-loss drug sweeping Hollywood.

“I am very lucky that I have so much hair, because at the rate that I’ve been losing hair, I’m gonna be bald in about a week,” Sophia confessed in a candid video.

She didn’t hold back, revealing piles of fallen hair and footage from her daily routine, showing just how severe the fallout has become.

‘This Is Every Day’: TikTok Shocker

Mounjaro hair loss

In the now-viral video, Sophia pans the camera to show strands of her hair on the floor, in her hands, in the shower.

“I’m just going to show you a quick little video of what my hair loss looks like,” she says, calmly but clearly distressed. “And you’re not even seeing the half of it.”

Even running her fingers through her long, dark locks causes “piles” to come out, she noted. The sight is enough to stop any viewer mid-scroll.

Why She’s Not Blaming the Drug — Exactly

Sophia clarified that she doesn’t believe the medication itself is directly causing her hair to fall out.

Instead, she points to what she calls “rapid weight loss” and her own early missteps with nutrition.

“I think it’s a direct result of rapid weight loss because of the medication, and not eating enough vitamins, protein, all that kind of stuff,” she explained. “I wasn’t really thinking about eating enough protein, enough vitamins… so I think because of that, I have started losing hair.”

From Red Carpet to Reality

The stark reality stands in contrast to Sophia’s polished appearance at public events — like the red carpet premiere she attended on September 26, 2024, beaming in front of photographers. Behind the scenes, though, the toll on her health was building.

Sophia, who appears on Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills, said she’s now pivoting hard toward recovery. She’s begun eating more protein, taking vitamins, trying new hair products, and even adding a collagen supplement to her daily routine.

Still a Fan of Mounjaro

Despite the dramatic side effects, Sophia hasn’t soured on the medication.

“If anyone has any questions about my experience on Mounjaro, I’d be happy to answer them,” she offered at the end of her video. “I’m very open about it, and I think it’s great.”

Mounjaro, also known by its pharmaceutical name Tirzepatide, was originally approved by the FDA to treat Type 2 diabetes. It has since become a go-to for weight loss, touted by celebrities including Meghan Trainor, who recently revealed she used it and criticized the public’s obsession with her appearance.

The Bigger Picture

Hair loss isn’t an uncommon side effect of rapid weight loss, especially when nutritional intake is compromised. Still, the openness from someone like Sophia, a young, public-facing figure tied to a famous reality TV family is unusual and resonant.

It adds to the ongoing national conversation around the pressures of beauty, the fast rise of medical weight-loss solutions, and the real human costs that can come with them.
