Fresh waves of controversy are rolling through Hollywood after the latest release of federal documents tied to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The new trove has dragged entertainment powerhouses, media figures, and even royalty back into an unwelcome spotlight, prompting business deals to freeze and agencies to unravel.
The Department of Justice revealed more than three million records, including Epstein’s emails. Officials stressed that being named in the documents does not imply guilt. Still, the industry fallout has been swift and public.
Mottola Faces Business Trouble as Emails Resurface

Former Sony Music Entertainment CEO Tommy Mottola was among the latest figures linked to Epstein through recovered communication.
In one 2012 email, Epstein’s assistant wrote, “Did Tommy Mottola come over early today? just wondering.”
A follow-up message the next year added, “Please call Tommy Mottola.”
Their exchanges did not stop there. Records show Mottola once sent Epstein “a huge box of Bridgewater Chocolates” in 2011. Six years later, he reportedly sent a “gift basket.”
While Mottola has not been accused of wrongdoing, his ties to Epstein have triggered fresh business consequences. His highly anticipated pasta sauce project with Jimmy Fallon has been put on hold after the documents surfaced. One insider summed up the current mood bluntly, saying, “Nobody wants to be within 50 feet of anyone in the Epstein files.”
Casey Wasserman Announces Agency Sale After Maxwell Emails Emerge
Another major entertainment figure caught in the dragnet is Casey Wasserman. The influential music executive chose to sell his talent agency after records showed he exchanged flirtatious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell back in 2003.
The documents reveal that Maxwell and Wasserman traded personal messages long before she was accused of helping Epstein groom victims.
Wasserman is not accused of any misconduct, but the fallout has been severe. Pop star Chappell Roan and retired soccer icon Abby Wambach have already cut ties with the agency.
Barry Diller Acknowledges Trip to Epstein’s Island

Veteran executive Barry Diller was also identified in an email from Maxwell. She wrote, “Barry Diller would like to take a hike on the island. Please organize (Jeffrey said he would talk to you about this).”
Diller, who has not been accused of wrongdoing, commented in recent remarks that, “I am probably the only one who went to the island to see the architecture rather than the inhabitants.”
Brett Ratner Speaks Out After Photo Circulates
Director Brett Ratner addressed a resurfaced photo connecting him to Epstein. The image, which appeared in the latest release, shows Ratner sitting beside a woman while Epstein sits next to another unidentified woman.
Ratner explained the moment in detail.
“About 20 years ago, I had a girlfriend. I was in love with her. We were engaged. She was my fiancée. We went to an event, and we were sitting on the couch, and the photo was taken at that event,” he said.
He emphasized that he had no relationship with Epstein, adding,
“I didn’t have a personal relationship with him. I didn’t know him.”
Celebrities Mentioned Only Through Press Updates

Meghan Markle, Alyssa Milano, Rosie O’Donnell, and Princess Diana appeared in the files only because articles referencing them were circulated in Epstein’s inbox. There is no suggestion of misconduct tied to any of these figures.
Marilyn Monroe’s Image Caught Epstein’s Attention
Marilyn Monroe also surfaced in several unexpected email exchanges. In 2013, Epstein’s executive assistant wrote, “Please let Rich Barnett know how high you would like the Marilyn Monroe picture hung above the statue here in the Oval Office, and he can take care of it for you.”
Another document shows that Epstein purchased a Monroe-related item on Amazon in 2015.
Hundreds of High Profiles Listed in Federal Release
A letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi to Congress confirmed the federal release included “all” Epstein files. More than 300 notable names were listed, including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Bill Cosby, Kurt Cobain, and Prince Harry.
The letter clarified that individuals were included if they were political figures or government officials and if their names appeared in any record at least once. It also explained that some people had “extensive direct email contact with Epstein or Maxwell” while others were simply referenced indirectly through unrelated press material.
Mick Jagger Appears in Previously Released Photos

Rock icon Mick Jagger appeared in photos previously published by investigators. One image showed him seated between Epstein and former President Bill Clinton. Another captured him posing beside Clinton and an unidentified woman.
Officials noted that appearing in the photos does not imply wrongdoing.
Michael Jackson and Diana Ross Seen in Old Image
Another previously released photo featured Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and Bill Clinton together at an event. Authorities continue to stress that being pictured does not indicate criminal involvement.
