In gripping courtroom testimony, a woman testifying under the pseudonym Jane painted a disturbing portrait of life with Sean “Diddy” Combs, describing what she called a final, drug-fueled “sobriety party” before the music mogul promised to pursue rehab.
Jane told jurors Wednesday that in October 2023, Diddy proposed a temporary clean slate. “And he said, okay, I’m going to do like 30 days without anything, and I’ll be sober,” she testified. “But let’s just have, like, one more, one more sobriety party. Just one, like, sobriety party.”
That night, she said, stretched between 12 and 18 hours. “I believe ecstasy. And cocaine. I don’t know,” she replied when asked which drugs were used. According to Jane, three other entertainers were present, though she said she didn’t partake in the drugs.
Despite agreeing to the event, Jane admitted bitterly, “for knowing how much I loved him and knowing how I couldn’t say no to him.”
“I Just Wanted Him to Get Clean”
Jane’s testimony, part of a broader sex trafficking and racketeering case against the Bad Boy Records founder, detailed a turbulent relationship defined by emotional dependency and drug-fueled coercion.
“Around this time I just really wanted my partner to get sober,” Jane told the jury.
“I just really cared so much about Sean’s health, and I could see that he just, like, was excessively partying on top of just so many pills that he takes daily for I don’t know what. And I just really wanted him to get clean and just get better.”
Disturbing Allegations of Control
Earlier in the week, Jane testified that Diddy pressured her into participating in staged sexual encounters, often referred to as “hotel nights” with hired male escorts while he watched. These sessions, she claimed, were part of a pattern of voyeuristic behavior that Diddy described using the terms “voyeurism” and “escapism.”
According to Jane, the rapper would offer her ecstasy before such encounters. She recalled being forced to delete social media posts featuring him and being denied the same digital freedoms granted to another woman, Gina, whom Diddy was also seeing.
The courtroom was shown text messages between Jane and Diddy from March 2022, communications in which Jane coordinated travel to Miami and responded angrily when another woman posted a picture wearing a “love necklace,” while Jane had a matching “love bracelet.”
“It was really hurtful,” she said. “Those nights were so emotionally excruciating.”
Defense Grills Witness on Relationship Dynamics
Jane’s cross-examination, led by defense attorney Teny Geragos, focused on whether Jane willingly participated in the relationship dynamics. The defense noted that Diddy had been open about being polyamorous from the start of their relationship in 2021.
Jane confirmed she initially accepted the arrangement, explaining she was “just getting to know Diddy” at the time. However, she said she later felt trapped. Diddy, she claimed, paid her rent under a “love contract,” and threatened to cut her off if she refused to perform in “hotel nights.”
“How Much Does My Body Cost?”
Geragos also zeroed in on expensive gifts Jane had received, including luxury handbags in an attempt to portray her as complicit. But Jane lashed out in frustration.
“No, I only got trauma … after three-and-a-half years, I really don’t think I garnered anything,” she said. When Geragos asked about the price of Bottega bags, she shot back, “How much do Bottega bags cost?” to which Jane replied, “How much does my body cost” She then requested a break from the stand, later returning to apologize to Geragos.
Physical Decline and the Rehab Proposal
Jane described the early signs of Diddy’s alleged substance abuse. During an early trip, she noticed troubling changes in his appearance like jaundiced eyes, gray gums, and trembling hands. “It became clear he wasn’t taking care of himself,” she testified.
She claimed she proposed a rehab stint in Thailand, to which Diddy allegedly responded, “What the h—, you think I need rehab?”
Second Mistrial Request Denied
Before Jane’s testimony resumed Tuesday, federal Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy’s second motion for a mistrial. The defense had accused prosecutors of knowingly submitting false testimony related to earlier witness Bryana “Bana” Bongolan, who alleged Diddy once dangled her off a 17th-floor balcony.
Though Bongolan struggled to recall details of the event, including what drugs she had used, Judge Subramanian ruled there was no wrongdoing, noting that the defense had successfully challenged her credibility during cross-examination.
The Road Ahead
Diddy’s trial, which began May 12, has been a cascade of troubling allegations. While his defense team argues the testimonies are exaggerated or unreliable, the witnesses, particularly Jane continue to deliver harrowing, highly emotional accounts of a man who allegedly wielded wealth, fame, and control to devastating effect.
The trial continues.
