Meghan Markle isn’t letting online backlash define her story.
The Duchess of Sussex addressed a now-viral video of herself dancing in a delivery room alongside Prince Harry just before giving birth to their daughter, Lilibet. The clip—featuring hospital surroundings and an unmistakably joyful vibe triggered mixed reactions, with some branding the moment “cringe” and “attention-seeking.”
But Markle had a clear message for the naysayers.
“You have to be authentic,” she said during a preview of her appearance on the Aspire podcast. “Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance? … By the way, that wasn’t yesterday. That was four years ago.”
‘There’s a Whole Life Happening Behind the Scenes’
In the clip, the Duke and Duchess sway together as Markle flashes a playful dance—an intimate moment many assumed was recent.
Setting the record straight, Markle emphasized the importance of sharing life’s unfiltered moments.
“It’s a really great reminder that, with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life. A real, authentic, fun life that’s happening behind the scenes,” she said.
“I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms,” she added.
When asked by Aspire host Emma Grede if she’d rewrite her public narrative, Markle offered a telling reply.
“Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth,” she said, according to Vanity Fair.
Celebrating Prince Harry on Father’s Day
The candid comments come just days after Markle offered fans another rare peek into her family life.
On Sunday, she marked Father’s Day with a tribute to Prince Harry. A video posted to her brand’s social media showed Harry holding their children, with a “Happy Father’s Day” banner displayed across a courtyard.
“Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy,” she captioned the clip.
Another post captured Markle holding daughter Lilibet on what looked like a breezy boat ride. The black-and-white photo showed the four-year-old nestling close as her mother looked down at her lovingly.
“Happy birthday to our beautiful girl!” Markle wrote.
“Four years ago today she came into our lives—and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
From Palace Walls to California Skies
Markle, who rose to fame on the TV drama Suits, became the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Prince Harry in 2018. The couple welcomed their first child, Prince Archie, the following year while they were still working members of the royal family.
But their royal chapter was short-lived.
In 2020, Harry and Meghan stepped back from senior royal duties, citing media hostility and a lack of institutional support. They relocated to California and, in 2021, welcomed their second child, Lilibet.
Since leaving the royal spotlight, the couple have fiercely guarded their children’s privacy—releasing occasional family footage but rarely showing the children’s faces or attending public events with them.
Still, Markle’s recent posts suggest she’s carving out space to share her family on her terms—critics or not.
