Maye Musk, mother of tech billionaire Elon Musk, recently revealed the relief she felt after switching from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, escaping what she views as a political landscape tainted by “malicious and dishonest” tactics.
Appearing on The Bottom Line, Maye shared insights on her journey away from the Democratic Party. She described her initial allegiance:
“When I became a U.S. citizen, of course, I was Democratic because they give you that option and because they’re the good kind people who care about America,” she explained, recalling a time when she primarily consumed media from outlets like CNN and The New York Times. “But then, they’d also say Elon is terrible, and I was thinking, why are they lying about Elon?”
Breaking Ties with “Malicious and Dishonest” Politics
After facing attacks on her son, Maye felt compelled to make a change, noting a significant shift in her perception.
“They really just cut into my mind that they just didn’t know what they were doing,” she continued. “Then when I resigned from the Democrats, I just felt such a relief that I’m not part of the party that’s now malicious and dishonest. And my biggest fear is the fraud they are committing at the voting booths.”
Elon Musk’s Ambitions to Slash Government Waste
As Elon has grown more vocal in supporting former President Trump, he has also set out ambitious goals to reform government spending. During a recent Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, Elon committed to tackling at least $2 trillion in what he sees as unnecessary government expenditures.
Maye was asked about her son’s plans to eliminate fraud and waste, expressing strong confidence in his capabilities:
“I think more than $2 trillion. I think he was just being modest. I mean, look what he’s done with Twitter and X. It’s incredible,” she said. “And then, of course, Tesla was idiotic to do, and we heard it’s idiotic. SpaceX was idiotic. And how is he doing now?”

“They have a CEO who listens to them or gives them permission to make a change,” she shared. “And the same with Tesla.”

“I always worry about Elon, but don’t forget: Biden is on X. Kamala Harris is on X… all the Democrats are on X,” she said. “It’s horrifying, and as a mother, it terrifies me.”
