Multiple suspects are now facing charges after a viral New Year’s Eve video showed gunmen opening fire from a Dallas bridge, triggering a sweeping investigation that uncovered additional acts of violence across North Texas.
Police Identify Suspects From Viral Bridge Gunfire
The investigation began after footage of gunshots erupting from the Margaret McDermott Bridge spread across social media. According to police, the clip sparked alarm around the world and pushed Dallas detectives into an intensive search for everyone involved.
Authorities announced the arrests of Anthony Acevedo, 20, and Jose AlarconSanchez, 18, both from Grand Prairie. Officials say the two men were identified in multiple videos that showed them firing weapons from the bridge over Interstate 30 near downtown.
Investigators with the Central Patrol Division and the Special Investigations Unit described their work as relentless, coordinating closely with federal partners from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Officers say more than 100 shell casings were collected near the scene.
Earlier Arrest Leads Detectives To Wider Criminal Activity

As detectives dug deeper, they learned AlarconSanchez had been taken into custody just hours earlier by the Grand Prairie Police Department for a similar firearms offense on the morning of January 1, 2026. That discovery widened the scope of the investigation and revealed yet another violent incident tied to one of the suspects.
Police say evidence eventually connected 25-year-old Anderson Derce Lara to a separate road-rage shooting from November. According to investigators, Derce Lara fired multiple rounds into a vehicle carrying three adults and three children, narrowly missing every person inside.
Firearms Seized As Evidence Mounts
Working with ATF agents, detectives executed a search warrant and recovered several weapons, including rifles that authorities say matched the firearms seen in the viral New Year’s Eve footage. This additional evidence helped link Derce Lara to both the bridge gunfire and the earlier road-rage attack.
Charges Filed Against All Three Suspects

Acevedo and AlarconSanchez are charged with discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities, which is classified as a class A misdemeanor. Derce Lara faces six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony carrying severe penalties.
Police said Acevedo has already been released on bond. AlarconSanchez and Derce Lara remain in custody under immigration detainers.
Police Chief Issues Warning To Armed Offenders
Authorities emphasized that more arrests may follow as the investigation continues. In a firm message to the public.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux stated, “If you put lives at risk in Dallas, we will identify you, investigate thoroughly, and hold you accountable.”
