Secret Service Reroutes Trump’s Motorcade After ‘Suspicious Object’ Found at Palm Beach Airport

Date:

A routine security check at Palm Beach International Airport abruptly escalated on Sunday when Secret Service agents uncovered a suspicious object near the area prepared for President Donald Trump’s departure. The discovery pushed agents to alter the president’s motorcade route, according to the White House.

Despite the tense moment, Trump’s travel plans remained unchanged. Agents reviewed the item, assessed the risk, and immediately shifted the route to maintain safety.

“During advance sweeps of PBI Airport, a suspicious object was discovered by USSS,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

“A further investigation was warranted and the presidential motorcade route was adjusted accordingly.”

A Pattern of Recent Security Alerts

Sunday’s discovery is not the first time agents have raised alarms around the former president’s movements in Palm Beach. The incident adds to a growing list of concerns, highlighting how frequently agents encounter potential threats in the area.

Just a few months ago, the Secret Service identified a hunting stand positioned with a direct view of Trump’s Air Force One arrival point. No individuals were found nearby, but the location of the stand triggered an intense federal investigation.

At the time, FBI Director Kash Patel explained the situation clearly. “Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone,” he told. “No individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cell phone analytics capabilities.”

A law enforcement source later noted that the stand appeared to have been in place for “months” before anyone noticed it.

Heightened Scrutiny After Assassination Attempts

These security scares come in the aftermath of multiple attempts on the former president’s life. Authorities are still managing the fallout of the Ryan Routh case, where prosecutors said Routh built a hidden sniper’s nest on Trump’s Palm Beach golf course. A courtroom sketch from his trial shows how seriously federal prosecutors treated the threat.

Routh was previously found guilty of attempting to assassinate Trump at that location. That incident followed another attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally.

Travel Continues as Investigations Move Forward

Trump traveled from Palm Beach to Washington on Sunday as scheduled. Secret Service teams remained on-site at the airport to examine the suspicious object and determine whether it posed any larger threat.

As investigators work through the facts, officials say security operations will continue at heightened levels. The recent incidents serve as a reminder of the constant watch federal agents must maintain around the former president.
