A Florida store clerk was left bloodied and unconscious after a violent attack involving a 2-liter bottle of Orange Crush and the suspect, a career criminal, is still on the run.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the Seven Star store in Bradley around 8 p.m. on August 3, following reports of a physical assault on an employee.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim “bleeding profusely” above his right eye, officials said. The injury required 10 stitches and is believed to have caused a concussion.
‘You ain’t gonna do nothin’ to me, boy!’
According to investigators, the suspect entered the store with two other men and accused the clerk of “staring at him.” The victim told him to grab his purchases and leave.
That order, authorities say, didn’t sit well. Words were exchanged, voices rose, and the suspect allegedly “threw a full, unopened, plastic 2-liter [bottle] of Orange Crush at the victim’s head.”
The blow knocked the clerk unconscious.
Video of the incident appears to show the suspect taunting, “You ain’t gonna do nothin’ to me, boy!” before walking out with his companions.
Suspect Has Long Criminal History
Detectives identified the suspect as 30-year-old Terry Lamar Johnson Jr. of Mulberry. He is wanted on a charge of felony battery causing great bodily harm.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Johnson had not been taken into custody. The sheriff’s office confirmed he was jailed in May for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Officials also said Johnson’s rap sheet includes charges of grand theft, aggravated assault, battery, resisting arrest, and “numerous” weapons violations.
Authorities Ask for Public’s Help
The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who knows Johnson’s whereabouts to call 863-297-1100.
