Apple’s groundbreaking Apple Intelligence features have officially launched, and users of eligible devices can now experience these cutting-edge tools. If you’re eager to explore the AI capabilities Apple has introduced, it’s time to update your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the latest software.
Apple Intelligence Update Now Available for iPhones, iPads, and Macs
On Monday, Apple rolled out its first set of Apple Intelligence features for devices capable of supporting the technology. Users with compatible iPhones, iPads, and Macs can access these features by updating their devices to the latest operating system versions: iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.
Apple has confirmed that “iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later, and Mac with M1 and later,” are eligible for the update.
The tech giant noted that users can initiate the update through the “software updates” section within their settings app. For now, these AI features are accessible in most regions where the device language and Siri are set to U.S. English.
Powerful New Tools for a Modern Experience
Apple CEO Tim Cook has hailed the new features as “delivering brand-new experiences and tools that will transform what our users can accomplish.” With this update, Apple Intelligence enables a host of functionalities, including powerful search capabilities. Users can now search for almost anything in their photos and videos just by describing it, and even edit out unwanted elements with ease.
In a press release, Apple also introduced “Writing Tools” that bring a new layer of productivity to iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The Writing Tools assist users by providing rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing capabilities for text, and can be used across apps like Mail and Messages.
Enhanced Notification Summaries and New Siri Features
Apple’s latest AI update also brings new notification summaries, allowing users to easily scan long or stacked notifications for key information directly on the Lock Screen. Additionally, features like “Priority Messages” and “Focus, Reduce Interruptions” have been included to enhance user experience and minimize distractions.
Siri will also see some updates thanks to Apple Intelligence, further enhancing the voice assistant’s functionality. According to Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, “is just the beginning,” with plans for more features arriving in December and the following months, including ChatGPT integration in Siri and Writing Tools.
A Staggered Launch, But Worth the Wait
Apple executives have previously explained that the rollout of Apple Intelligence will be “staggered” in terms of features and supported languages. This is only the start of what the company envisions for Apple Intelligence, first unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. As Apple continues to expand its AI offerings, users can expect even more exciting features to roll out over the coming months.
So far this year, Apple has generated $224.9 billion in net sales from its range of products, with services also contributing $71.2 billion over the first three quarters.
