An official from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been allegedly promoting illegal immigration into the United States through platforms like YouTube and TikTok, offering guidance to border crossers, according to a new report by a conservative watchdog group.
Wilson Osorio, listed online as an associate counsel with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service’s (USCIS) Office of the Chief Counsel, is at the center of the controversy. The American Accountability Foundation published a scathing report alleging Osorio’s use of social media to support illegal migration.
A Radical Agenda Exposed
The president of the American Accountability Foundation, Thomas Jones, did not mince words. He explained that this incident shines a light on a broader issue within federal agencies – the presence of far-left career policymakers. “What this ends up showing us is that these are people who are not unbiased, not people who are objective,” Jones stated. “These are people who have an agenda. And look, that’s fine. You can have an agenda, but we can’t expect those people to come into a conservative administration and say, well, on January 19th I was working on a policy I love on finding out how we can get as many migrants as possible into the United States, and then on January 22nd say, you know what I’m going to do? I’m gonna come up with the most effective policy to deport all of those people I brought into the country.”
Jones continued, “If people believe that that’s how these people are gonna behave, they’re just out of touch with how the administrative state really works.”
After media contacted DHS and USCIS about Osorio, his YouTube and TikTok accounts, which reportedly belonged to him, were made private, and his LinkedIn profile was removed.
Promoting the American Dream?
According to the report, Osorio’s social media channels on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram featured content mainly involving conversations with illegal immigrants. The videos included discussions about how much money these individuals were making, their journey to the U.S., and the purported benefits of entering and residing illegally in the country.
“Osorio uses his TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram channels to post video content, mostly of conversations with illegal immigrants, where he asks the individuals to tell those watching how much money they make, how they came to the United States, and how wonderful it is to illegally enter and settle in the U.S.,” the report says.
The report also noted that Osorio began posting such videos in July, amassing dozens of posts across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. In one post, Osorio highlights a Honduran immigrant who entered the U.S. illegally two decades ago and now owns a thriving restaurant. “The American Dream is alive and well. This is the story of a Honduran immigrant who entered the United States illegally ~20 years ago. With hard work and dedication, he is now the owner of an expanding restaurant which brings in over $1 million in sales,” his Instagram description reads.
In another example, a migrant is featured earning $1,000 weekly selling fruit. Yet another video shows an illegal immigrant sharing advice for others wanting to cross the border, warning about dangers such as smugglers and the harsh desert climate.
“In 3 years my daughters and I already have papers in the USA,” says the title of another video. The featured woman states she crossed illegally, but having three daughters helped her gain protection from deportation, leading to her work permit.
Osorio’s social media also featured stories of individuals who managed to “build a house in Honduras” thanks to their earnings in the U.S., and one person who received Reagan-era amnesty and subsequently became a citizen. “I got papers through amnesty, and now I am a citizen,” the person shares in the video.
Undocumented Immigrants in the Workforce
In another post, Osorio praises the “important role” undocumented immigrants play in construction, while also pointing out the earnings potential in various occupations. Some videos even offer guidance for illegal immigrants on how to handle situations where they are owed money at work.
Jones did not hold back his criticism. “Wilson Osorio personifies the plague of unelected radical leftist bureaucrats turning this country upside down,” he said in a statement. “Even as he collects his taxpayer-funded salary, Osorio pushes his radical open borders agenda that is endangering the safety, stability and livelihoods of millions of Americans. It is an utter betrayal of the American people. He must be fired immediately.”
Senator Lee Speaks Out
The report also drew the attention of Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, who labeled federal employees encouraging lawbreaking as a “severe breach of public trust.” He linked this controversy to broader Biden administration policies.
“Unfortunately, this is unsurprising for the Biden-Harris administration and Mayorkas’ DHS, which has worked for four years to destroy America’s borders and invite illegal aliens, including thousands of violent criminals, to our shores,” Lee told. “Americans desperately need real leadership in the White House, the Department of Homeland Security and across the federal government.”
DHS declined to comment on Osorio’s social media activities.
