Shortly after starting his Friday show in Mississippi, country singer Brantley Gilbert left his fans on the edge of their seats – for a very good reason. Gilbert rushed offstage due to an unexpected emergency: his wife, Amber, had gone into labor.
Luckily for Gilbert, his wife was close by on the musician’s tour bus. However, with no time to reach a hospital, the events quickly turned into something unforgettable.
Concert Interrupted by Joyful Chaos
Brantley Gilbert suddenly exited the stage in Tupelo, Miss., after he was notified of the emergency.
On Saturday, Gilbert recapped the incredible experience on social media.
“So last night might have been the craziest night of my life,” Gilbert captioned an Instagram post.
“Watching such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I’ll never forget,” he wrote.
He went on to thank everyone who helped make the unexpected birth go smoothly. “Thank you to our road family for rallying around us, Brittany Thornton for helping us bring this little dude into the world, Tupelo, Mississippi for showing us mad love and support, and most of all … Amber Gilbert, for letting me love you and showing me EXACTLY how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you.”
“She’s a Freaking Savage”: Brantley Praises Wife’s Strength
Gilbert’s post also included a video that explained the sequence of events. The singer started his performance only to abruptly leave the stage shortly after. Footage then shows Gilbert backstage, running toward what appeared to be the venue’s exit.
The video cuts to Gilbert on his tour bus, calling his mother to announce the arrival of her new grandchild. The heartwarming footage continues with a newborn baby lying atop a towel. Pictures show Amber resting on the couch, doing skin-to-skin contact with her child as Gilbert looks on lovingly.
“She’s a freaking savage,” Gilbert said proudly of his wife, who had just delivered the couple’s third child on the bus.
After the birth, Gilbert was still determined to finish what he had started. “Well, I’m going to go finish this show, and I’ll FaceTime you after,” he said to his mother as the footage cuts to him walking back onstage. Though it’s unclear exactly how long Gilbert was absent from the concert, he returned to announce the exciting news to his fans.
“We got a baby,” he shouted to the crowd, sparking an ecstatic roar of cheers and applause.
A Night Tupelo Will Never Forget
The couple announced they were expecting their third child on Mother’s Day, and Gilbert’s next concert is set for Oct. 17 in Savannah, Georgia. As he heads back to the stage, Gilbert will certainly have a lot more love and excitement to carry with him on tour.
